I came across this via and email that someone tried to post on Facebook. I found it rather interesting and I agree with it. It is in response to Bobby Jindall's Republican response to Barrack Obama's speech last week. Like I said, I didn't write it, just agree with it and I signed the petition even though I am not a resident of Louisiana. Jindall is a jerk and what is wrong with the Republicans today.
Petition An Open Letter to Governor Bobby Jindal:
As a Louisiana resident, I am concerned with the direction you are planning to take with my state. I listened intently to your speech following President Barack Obama’s address. You contended that Americans can do anything without the support of the government. I respectfully disagree. As you stated, America is “…the Nation that cast off the scourge of slavery, overcame the Great Depression, prevailed in two World Wars, won the struggle for civil rights, defeated the Soviet menace, and responded with determined courage to the attacks of September 11, 2001.” Have you forgotten that it was with the help and leadership of the American government that allowed us to prevail over such hardships? Without the government’s role in appropriating legislation or providing federal funding to aid such crises, you would not be able to stand before a nation declaring the greatness of America and the ability of Americans to “do anything”. The rejecting of $98 million dollars in stimulus money for expanding Louisianans unemployment benefits during the time of a recession is irresponsible. The decision to withhold funding towards the state’s growing unemployed is nothing more than a way to gain republican support. Those who need the money most will suffer while you gain approval from fellow republican constituents. Other states will experience economic progress as they aid their unemployed with funding and assistance to foster growth. Meanwhile, here in Louisiana our economic growth will be curbed as the unemployed grow in numbers with no vision for recovery. All Louisiana residents – whether democratic and republican, are negatively impacted by decisions that impede growth as the unemployment rate continuities to fester. I urge you to reconsider your notion to reject stimulus funding for the unemployed. If not, you have lost my vote.

After a weeks of that fat head Limbaugh and most Republicans wishing our President to fail, solely so they can say; "We told you so" and never mind the suffering from people who lose their jobs, their homes, the strife that comes with all this just so a bunch of rich elites can see our country fail. Well I am tired of that fatass Limbaugh, who is a millionaire and never has to worry about his next meal, who sits behind his golden microphone spouting off all our country's ills but never could find fault with the very people, the Republican leadership, who basically got us into this mess. I think Limbaugh should be charge for treason but then he is after all an entertainer, a comedian, that makes his living off of dolts that buy into his spew.
I am more afraid of the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity than any terrorist attack and after just over 40 days of Obama's Presidency, they have done nothing to show any unity but tear him down at every turn. Yet, we have been safe for over 40 days. Wow, isn't that what the Bush crowd always came back with? We're safe?

Whats more upsetting than Limbaugh is the band of followers who hang on his every word. What's the matter with these people? Cant they see he is leading them over a cliff?
What "unity" did the Democrats show to Bush? Why do you expect Republicans to support Obama when Dems opposed Bush at every turn?
Simple: Bush: "I am the Decider." Remember that? We (Americans) had no choice as the Republicans ruled and we believed Bush on so many things, like WMDs, tax cuts for the wealthy (like the rich need more money) and tax cuts for corporations that showed their greed by moving jobs out of the country. Yes the Democrats are full of idiots too, but now it is their turn, why shouldn't we all come together and make what our President is trying to do, save our economy, work? Nope, the GOP won't have it.
You do know that Bin Laden succeeded with what he wanted to do on 9/11. We as a nation are bankrupt. He knew our greed and he played us like a deck of cards. Bush was too ignorant to see this but his handlers knew, and they too lined their pockets.
As far as I am concerned, the GOP can join in and help or STFU, and let the Dems give it a shot. Check the stock market of late? What have we got to lose?
When the Bush/Cheney dynasty was in power I don't recall the Dems being the "unified" pack of whiners the GOP is today. Why are they so hell-bent on Obama's failure to fix the mess their own party made? Jealousy perhaps? Give the President a chance. Correcting the past 8 years will take alot of time. So to the GOP...are you in or out? I'm afraid you'll choose to be out. Pity.
What if I don't believe that Obama's plans will help the economy? Should I still support him? Did you believe Bush's plans in Iraq would have good results? If you didn't, did you "join in and help" anyway?
i do not know me-Bush's plans to invade another country and a plan to save our own country are vastly different issues. People, we need to get together and mend our nation. All I'm saying is lets fix this mess before it's too late.
How are they different? You thought the invasion of Iraq was bad for the country and opposed it. I believe Obama's recovery plans are bad for the country and I oppose them.
idnkm- fair enough...I blindly followed Bush...unlike you... but
I think the recovery plan deserves a chance. We'll all have to wait and see.
I never voted for Bush but I did support him when he was first elected. I also supported him 100% right after 9-11 and like many Americans, I wanted him to kick some Arab ass. I was appalled Bush wanted to invade Iraq, s country that had nothing to do with 9-11 but hey, Bush said they had WMDs and well, like most ignorant Americans, they looked Arab, so what the hell.
Turns out no WMDs and now it looks like Bush and his friends lied to all of us and in the interim, looted our country. Now whether that is proved or not, doesn't matter, what matters is that we now have to fix it. We tried Bush's way, and by the way, Bush spent more than all the other President's combined and he started this bailout of the banks, remember. We now should let Obama try and give it some time.
Republicans doing what they are doing now, like Limbaugh and Hannity are doing, by denouncing our President and current government must have Bin Laden grinning from ear to ear.
If you can not see this, then I can't explain further. Go back to Fixed News and pray.
Its a proven fact that there were no WMD's where they were suppose to be and thats a proven fact along w/ the shananagins pulled by all the Prez's men to get a spy "outed" because her husband told the truth. Anyway, Methodist is feeling the economic downturn by laying off more employees, some w/ over 35 yrs exp. They began this over 6 months ago by requiring unreachable production quotas to certain workers. A coincedence (sp) is that it was only imposed on workers w/ many years of MMCI employment, thus the most highly paid too. Once quotas cooulodnt bet met or quality diminshed, they were let go. Again, today, 2 more employees have felt the crunch by being laid off from a department that gets high rankings w/in MMCI under the same circumstances. MMCI changes policy, working conditions, pay, and insurance whenever little George (Mike O'B)deems necessary. As long as we have the fireworks on the riverfront I suppose its ok! I am glad the City of Peoria changed health care to OSF.

Oh and Randall, You made a comment the other day about 2 departments in the COP and how there employees are out of the city and it got me thinking............I will do a little research in one of those departments and see how many are in/out of the city. Maybe even how many moved out of the city after the city agreed to it during negotiations. I might also add that the last 2 fire chiefs never felt the need to live in the city until they were in direct line for the job. (imagine the gas usage for their city cars driven to points all over Peoria County over the years)
Neal
Randall, I would have signed the petition, also. I am not too good in assessing financial decisions, etc. I just hope Obama is right because I like all his reasons for the decisions he is making--they just seem right to me. Of course, I don't have such a great fear of "big" government. The truth of a PJS crypto the other day struck me: An capitalist is an American worker without money. I am always amazed at the people who speak so strongly in favor of allowing the rich to get richer, etc., because it's the capitalist way--they are often the ones who are struggling to make ends meet. I consider myself a capitalist, but (in my ignorance on the subject) I feel there must be a way to allow the free market to operate without allowing the extreme greed that seems to have gotten us into the mess we're in right now.
Idnkm, In the months that immediately followed 9/11. Democrats and Republicans united in support of the President. What the President wanted, he got, with few questions asked. Even during the onset of the Iraq war, Bush got everything he asked for with few questions asked. In the face of a crisis the Democrats united and supported the majority Republicans.
It wouldn't be until many months later when the ineptitude of the Bush administration became clearer that the nonpartisan gloves came off.
Today, we are in another crisis, one that is far more serious than a couple planes crashing into buildings. Where are the Republicans? They are out seeking failure.
Yes there is a difference... a HUGE difference.
Enjoy your parties' long walk in the wilderness.
Another point.....I believe the President asked for and received every financial bill/plan.
Randall, you seem to be a computer-saavy guy. We're looking at buying a laptop.
I called Nerds-on-call to ask their opinion. The person I talked to said that Lenovo's are the highest quality. I mentioned HP or Dell and she said they repair a lot of those brands. She said Toshiba is a little bit better than HP or Dell? She also mentioned that Lenovo's Customer service is still in the US.
What's your opinion?
^Haha Reminds me of people thinking Apple Computers are the safest out there. I work with Dell computers all day everyday and I'll tell you the are pretty reliable computers, same can be said about every other brand (besides eMachines/Gateway...) as long as you take care of them
mazr: Well, millions of HP laptops are sold so you are going to see some getting fixed. Just like saying there are too many Chevy's in the repair shop.
Personally, I like HP laptops and find them very stable and good quality. I have 2 with no problems. I do however hate Vista and that is what people are stuck with. I do run Beta Windows 7 on a laptop now and I find it runs very smooth. It's like Vista fixed.
The things to remember when buying a laptop are 1)you are stuck with what you get because laptops are hard to upgrade except for RAM, 2) RAM! 4gigs min if you run Vista and as cheap as RAM is these days, the more RAM the better, 3) your laptop should have a DVD burner included, 4) all laptops usually come with built in WI-FI, make sure it does, 5)video, the chip inside that runs video should be Nvidia or ATI. Some cheaper laptops use Intel, S3, or SiS onboard chips that get less than quality video and suck their usage from the RAM, 6) screen size the bigger the better, you'll wish you had it when you got it, and lastly 7)hard drive size. The drive should be over 100gigs although I have an HP mini in my shop now that is slick as snot but only has a 60gig drive. That is more than enough room for the average user. Music takes up space but video sucks it down.
