Big Deal Department…

So… Phil Luciano gets arrested for punching someone at a local pub.  The Owl’s Nest to be exact. A dive in West Peoria to be exact.  Big deal.  He writes a column for the Journal Star and when I am lining my cat’s litter box, I sometimes find a minute to read it or I go online and read it without making the cat wait to shit. 

He is also a co-host on an afternoon AM radio show, WMBD1470 most afternoons with Markley who has been around radio in this market in one form or another for years. Oh hum, he has the personality of tarp.  Their show is asinine and idiotic and I rarely listen because of the commercials WMBD has.  I mean, take out the ads and you have about 11 minutes of show each half hour.  Besides, in the morning on WMBD, the other guys do the commercials like they are sitting at your kitchen table.  They talk about how cool garage doors are or whatever and it is simply an ad and that drives me nuts.  The other main reason I don’t listen much to 1470 is the tribe they parade out for programming, like Dennis Miller a no talent hack and of course Limbaugh.

That said, who cares that Phil popped a guy in a bar and got out for $122 bail the same night.  Hell, if some drunk insulted my wife like this guy did Phil’s, I would have pony up $244 bucks and hit him again.  That’s the price you pay for drinking in dives at 1 am. and although it isn’t the civilized way to handle things, alcohol skewers things and Phil is only human and from his ivory tower at 1 News Plaza, I am giving him more credit than he gives some of the subjects of his columns.  It is a long fall from the top. 

What I did take note was some of the comments left by different posters about this incident on various blogs.  Funny, Billy Dennis is accused of blocking commenter's (banning), limited topics, (Schock),  and closing comments altogether on some of his posts.  His blog,  his right I say but……..It is true that commenting on Dennis’ site is like pulling teeth for some people, like me for instance.  My comments don’t appear for days if ever.  I am tired of emailing him and asking so I stopped commenting.  Schock isn’t really a big topic for Billy, but it is for Diane Vespa and as she guest post on his site sometimes,  it is usually about where and when boy wonder will turn up.  I am convinced that she has a semi-nude poster of Schock on her bedroom ceiling.  Jesus, will someone slap this woman back to reality?

So, I say with this Luciano fiasco, we should let it go.  We here in Peoria have been informed that we'll have a $10 million dollar deficit in the next year or so and we have a group on our city council that can be very creative when it comes to budget crunches.  Remember the Garbage Fee that doesn’t even go to the collection of garbage? That was a kick in the nuts.  Well get yourself a cup (athletic cup) because these same clowns are about to sell us down the toilet again.  Take away police officers, short the fire department, let the streets go to hell, sell bonds so a developer can build a new hotel and when the flood recedes, build the museum that CAT now seems to be shying away from. Due to economic times.  Huh, there’s a surprise.  It’s these clowns that could use a punch or two unless of course one them points her boney finger at you and says: “I’ll get you…and that little dog too!”  Then run.

So, to make it easy, maybe our council persons should come around and kick us in the nuts and take our wallets.  At least I’ll get the same feeling and get it over with quickly.  There are bigger fish to fry…..
