Big Fight at Peoria High School this morning..

A fight broke out in the school’s cafeteria, right after FREE breakfast,  between two black girls.  The fight was so severe, that the girls broke a computer monitor, a keyboard, and the computer, knock a hole in the wall with plaster falling everywhere and the Ass’t Principal was hit several times suffering minor injuries.

No security anywhere to be found and if the cafeteria manager hadn’t found the walkie talkie on the floor and called for security, hard telling how much damage and how many more people would be hurt. The rest of the fine student body was standing on tables cheering the girls on, breaking tables and screaming.  You, know, the animals in the zoo.

Security arrives and maces the girls and off they go.  The Chief of Security said they won’t be arrested even though they destroyed public property, the lunch room computer, a wall, and several tables.  Instead the girls, according to the Chief, were simply girls who were lead a stray.  Punishment?  10 days off.

WTF!!!!!!!   When the cafeteria manager told the girl that busted her computer that she should be held to pay for that equipment, the security guard told her not to talk to the girl like that.  Again WTF??

This is why our schools are the way they are.  Animals running the zoo and there are no consequences for their actions.  Why weren’t these girls arrested and charged?  Because the Chief said they were misguided youths.  So, folks, if you get into a fight, in a public place and break up expensive equipment, just say you are a misguided individual.  That should work right?  NOT!

Time to can this Administrator, give security back to someone with common sense, and take back this school.  It’s a frickin war zone and those kids don’t give a damn.  Never have and never will.

A few years ago there were knives, guns, and fireworks brought into an Edison school. Fights daily, broken tables, chairs, etc. back then it was the teacher's fault for not building relationships with students. Good to see 150 continues to produce future prison inmates instead of responsible, contributing members to society. I, for one, am glad my tax dollars no longer go to provide incompetent administrators a cushy retirement.

This is hard to even imagine, except it is true. It is so disgusting: yes, keeps our prisons full and "our tax dollars at work." It certainly does not provide education for future working employment!

I have three kids in that "school". More frightening than I can convey.

Before we blame the Campus Police, I mean security guards, I mean "resource officers", we should remember that they are now with hands tied. Several of the officers at Central are "real Police" for other departments. The new chief and and the new superintendant do not want them to do anything, because if they did there would be proof that there is a problem in the schools. And if you read the PJS, two board members asked the students if there was any gang problems, or discipline problems or any cell phone problems. They were told no. Maybe they were at Charter Oak when they asked. But, if you look at those same "resource officers" pre Latham, you will see they did a fine job of stopping such incidents.

It is happening across the grade levels and everyone is being allowed to do whatever they do and get away with it. No wonder the high school students are so out of control. They find out real quick down in kindergarden they can throw things, hit people, kick teachers, threaten to kill the teacher and other students, and run around the school with NO consequence other than maybe being caught by a principal and put right back into the room where he/she just threatened to kill someone. As long as the general public does not get wind of what is happening, it isn't happening. Oh, and when Lathan walks the halls and sees the chaos, she quickly deems the faculty unsatisfactory, the principal useless, and herself worthy of a $10,000 bonus. Please help us at the lowest levels. We want to make a change and the first step is hold those hooligans and their parents accountable for their behavior even if it means sending their little butts home. There IS a behavior problem in the district and Lathan is NOT doing a thing other than pointing fingers at any employee in the building who isn't behind her kissing her ass.

Let me clarify some things. First, I have the upmost respect for the fine officers of the District police and I have no respect for our administrator who has tied their hands. The police, which I feel shouldn't have to be in schools, are a must in this day and with these types of kids.
Fights happen in all schools everywhere. I have seen fights even way back when I was in school. The difference from then to today? These kids have no sense of respect for others or property. They are held to very low standards and are not held for their actions. That is because we have endured generation after generation of idiots who have been on the public dole for lifetimes and the kids then are raised to expect it handed to them also. Plain and simple.
In this case, I could care less if these girls killed each other but what I do care about is the atmosphere of fear and unsafe practices for the other students and staff around them when they act like animals. I say, pull these bitches out, put them in a cage, and let them have at each other. No one gets hurt and maybe, just maybe, they may see themselves for the idiots they are. I doubt it though because with TV, music, and the internet, these kids growing up with no real role models, like parents, and watching the state hand them everything from medical cards to food stamps, think they are owed by society. These type of kids will never learn in a public school environment no matter how much money you throw at the schools. Nobody, can change these kids after the environments they live in day after day. Grabbing them young doesn't seem to work either because we have had over 25 years of Head Start, another government funded program throwing money down the drain. Never will work when mama passes the kid off to grandma and hits the nail shops.

Emtronics, as usual, you have hit the nail on the head. The way you said it might be harsh, but "you can't handle the truth" hurts. I didn't mean to imply that you, were saying the campus police wasn't doing their jobs. Most people will think that. I grew up in the southend in the 70's, I was "jumped" and I got into more then my share of fights. Most of the guys I fought with today will drink a beer with me and both of us will swear the other guy started it and that we won. Never had a desire to kill or maim just wanted to vent. It is gonna get worse before it gets better.

Yes, thank yo. I went to Bergen for a few years and got beat up by some of the best at Spalding. I see those guys today and we laugh and we drink a few beers. We have jobs, kids, and we grew to know responsibility and respect. That is what is lacking with many of today's youth. My Lord, if we broke a window, we paid for the window and ended up picking up garbage along a road for a few hours. If we damaged property, we paid for it, or our parents did, and we appeared before a judge. If he didn't send you away your parents kicked your ass when you got home. I called my teachers Mister, Miss, or Mrs. Anything else was a swat on the ass and your parents kicking it after you got home.

I think the analogy is Lord of the Flies. Youth, without discipline, will revert to the lowest level of behavior. Too many youths lack that discipline for so long that they never grow out of "Flies" mode.

I am called a mother f'er on a daily basis at the primary school where I teach. After school my students are picked up by older siblings from central. I asked one kid to pick up the litter that he threw on school grounds and he called me the "c" word infront of my students and kept walking. Again, another misguided youth, er, thug, er, future inmate
