Just Things….

The hotel deal going on in Peoria is getting a little more twisted now that a lawsuit has been filed against the Catholics over a small strip of land.  To me it’s neither here nor there and I don’t blame the Catholic Diocese for wanting their cut.  After all, the true stinkum in this deal is the fact that the City sold a prime piece of land, with out bids, to a private person, Big Al, for $400,000 that land was drawing the city $4000 a month in parking revenue.  What this boils down to is this; Big Al went from a business, on a lot no bigger than the one the Catholics are being sued over, and worth $1 million to a new lot, new building and worth over $11 million!  For doing nothing.  Can one blame God for wanting his cut?

This Limbaugh thing is nuts but I refuse to get in it here.  Many men and women of this country died for jerks like Limbaugh to have the Right to mouth off.  So he does it just to get ratings and media attention, the very media he calls the drive by media and ridicules everyday. To me, Limbaugh was (is) a draft dodger, never served a day in his life.  He is a drug addict, something he would hang other drug addicts for in a New York minute, he does himself.  He has had 4 wives and no kids.  To me, he has no dick, which is why he picks on women.  Take him for what he is worth, to me nothing.  I hit the off switch or changed the channel.  As for boycotting his advertisers and radio stations, good luck with that.  Limbaugh is worth more than some countries and EIB, his network is on Clear Channel networks which owns a hell of a lot of the stations that carry Limbaugh's radio show.  In fact, Clear Channel demands all it’s owned stations carry Limbaugh. So no matter what you boycott, the large mound of sound is here to stay. He as his opinion and I am smart enough to turn the dial.  It’s those that hang on his every word that scare me.

The speed limit on Main street from Western to just pass University, as I wrote sometime ago, has changed or slowed to 25 MPH at the request of Bradley I guess or so I hear. I guess it was because of the concern of those walking, not on the sidewalks, but those that seem to cross anywhere they want, while texting on  their cell phones.  I always thought that if you didn’t have a license plate attached to your ass, you didn’t belong wandering the streets. Still, the weather is warming and it won’t be long before that stretch starts getting radar. The cops will make a mint there as I drive this part all the time and I refuse to be the first to get a ticket for speeding.  So I drive 25 mph and I am tailgated, and passed like I was standing still.

Driving in Peoria is something special.  Doesn’t anyone read the Rules of the Road book.  To the lady who slammed on her brakes and then flipped me off because I honked at her for stopping for a school bus on N University by Gale Ave, I say back at ya bitch!  The school bus was stopped, lights flashing in the right lane of northbound University.  We were driving southbound on University which is 4 or more lanes (left turn lane counts) road.  On page 28 of the Illinois Rules of the Road book it says opposite traffic does not stop on roads of 4 or more lanes, like University, for a stopped school bus.  So why did she slam on her brakes?  Ignorance.  Why do we pay through the nose for car insurance in this state?  Ignorance of other idiot drivers who don’t have a clue.

And to Chef Kevin for THIS post.  No way you drove clean across Peoria on University and made every traffic light. Are you on drugs?  If possible, it would be nothing short of a miracle because I have always had the opportunity to sit and waste gas at either of the two traffic lights on the University over pass without fail  Still, I’ll call the city street department and get that fixed.  How dare any traffic flow in this city and how dare those traffic lights ever be timed for traffic flow.  This is Peoria, Home of the Scenic Wait!  (scenic wait = what one does at a red light in Peoria)

All good posts, especially "the speed limit" and "driving in Peoria!" What a town! Will be interesting to see how this hotel debacle progresses RE law suit.

I know, I'm still laughing at the fact that it happened. Usually get screwed by the light by Fedoras/Amoco or the one at Nebraska. I personally believe they didn't have a "screw up traffic flow on University" plan for February 29.

bets on how much taxpayer money the city council will end up giving the diocese? Matthews can't raise cab fair. The council could just fire some more cops or get rid of public works entirely. Eventually the pavement will wear through to the original brick which has go to be in much better shape than the potholed mess we are driving on now.

oh and to be clear, i do believe that the diocese has every right to renegotiate it's lease with a new entity. There is no contract when one of the members ceases to exist. Matthews should have negotiated a lease at the beginning of this project. Whoops, Heartland Partnership tax feed bag Spain screwed up again.

Why would I read the Rules of the Road on a regular basis? How often do these laws change without some broadly splashed notice? Apparently it does change and did with regard to school buses.

The law used to proscribe passing a school bus on a multi-lane road that did not have a median. Thus you would not have been allowed to pass that school bus in either direction on University.

When did this change? I have no idea but you are right it is different now.

Not sure I like it. Some of those kids dropped off on University do cross the street after the bus leaves. School buses are not supposed to drop kids off that live on the opposite side of a multi-lane road like University. But they do....

I have to drive Main several times a day, and there were 3 count them 2 motorcycle cops, 2 shooting the breeze and one giving a ticket, as usual you hit this one on the head.

Randy you're a bad joke. Dorks like you who claim they turn off Limbaugh or any conservative program are the same ones who know every little detail about them. But you did manage to flub one important detail. Limbaugh's network EIB is carried by Premiere, not Clear Channel, numbnuts. BTW, Hussein Obama and Bill Clinton never served a day in uniform and are both (recovering) drug addicts. Are you ignorant, or just plain stupid? Thanks!

Knock, knock: Nice to see you back. I don't know where you get the idea I have never listened to Limbaugh. In fact I listen often and find Limbaugh is, on certain things, dead on. I do remember that in March of 2003, when Bush started the war in Iraq, that Limbaugh said WMDs would be found. Then a few months later, around May 2003 when no WMDs were found, Limbaugh said on his program that he knew 100% for sure they would be found and if they weren't found by October, he would shut up and stop doing his show. Well? As for Clear Channel, they own most of the radio stations the REQUIRE they carry Limbaugh's show.
As for Obama, you are wrong. Obama has been the Commander IN Cheif for the last 2 or more years. That is exactly longer than Limbaugh or Hannity ever served in uniform. Obama also killed Bin Laden, something Bush couldn't do and Obama has gotten rid of a lot of top terrorists. Limbaugh had a butt boil and was declared exempt from military service and Limbaugh got caught with drugs and dealings with drugs. The difference is Obama isn't on the radio day after day spewing the mis truths and lies Limbaugh does. Limbaugh is an entertainer and makes millions off "ditto" heads who follow his every word. Limbaugh's importance will never amount to anything other than a millionaire behind a microphone. He'll never accomplish anything as great like becoming President of the United States. Oops....I guess that blows for you as both Clinton and Obama have done that. Clinton twice and soon Obama in 2012!

Randy, if I want Media Matter's web site talking points, I'll go there. All of those liberal talking points are rotting your brain. The only thing Bill Clinton ever did militarily was bomb an aspirin factory which killed thousands of innocent people. Hussein Obama didn't kill Osama. The Seals did that, and it was George W. Bush's policies that were already in place that led them to Osama. Bill Clinton was given Osama on a platter but declined and let him go on his merry way to 9/11. Hussein Obama did the opposite (reluctantly) knowing his presidency depended on it. So, to help make up for it, Barry's apologizing to the muslim world, and giving the terrorists at GITMO a $750,000 soccer field on your dime. Guess Hussein isn't closing GITMO afterall :) Don't bank on a reelection. The liberal media paints a false optimistic picture one way, but the majority of the people are realistically seeing and feeling it
differently. 15% real unemployment in an election year, and gasoline prices skyrocketing. Good luck, Dreamer.

knock knock: Talk about talking points. You sound like Fox News what with your 15% un-employment numbers. More like 8.5%
I have never been to the Media Matters web site but thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. I got my info on Clear Channel from Wikipedia.
As for the Seals taking out Bin Laden, they did and Seals follow orders. They just don't go and do things without orders from the CnC. Obama, against all the advice of his aides, didn't tell Pakistan that he was sending in a Seal team to their country to kill Bin Laden. He took a gutsy chance (something more than McCain would have done or even Bush) If the plan had failed, Hannity's head would have exploded tearing the President a new asshole for going into a country and conducting a military operation. He didn't. It was a success and the thank you's from the Right were non existence. A typical. I suppose you would have had Bush in a flight suit jump in and kill him and then wave a banner "Mission Accomplished!"? Remember when Obama bomb Lybia? My Lord, the Right wanted to have him prosecuted. Now this same Right wants him to bomb Syria. (John McCain on Monday) Which is it? Can't have it both ways but the way your kind think, no matter what this President does isn't enough or it isn't right. The GOP has devastated this country by pulling stunts in Congress, like raising the debt ceiling which they did under Bush boy a huge number of times without so much as a protest. What's different?
As for Gitmo, Obama went to close that first off and move those prisoners to a new unused Federal prison (northern Illinois?) but the GOP wouldn't have it. They didn't want those terrorists here on our soil even though half the prisoners here in maximum security prisons are worse than any of these terrorist are and we keep therm here. Again, both ways?
As for un-employment, yes people are hurting but remember you trashed the country before he left office? People were so destitute that they voted in many Republicans in 2010 on the promise of jobs. Well, where are the jobs. Facts released today said there are more billionaires in the US now then ever and the most of any country so the rich got richer on the backs of the people. They won't forget this in 2012 and Obama will win by a huge margin because why would anyone vote the party back in that caused the greatest depression since 1929?
As for Limbaugh's importance you are wrong. Not a single GOP candidate will speak out against him on anything including this latest hoopla. Not one. They fear him. Otherwise, I agree, he is a clown that makes millions off the stupidity of his base listeners who follow his every word.
As for oil prices, even a brain dead gnome like you must know that the market, speculators, set the oil prices not the President. Not even Bush could control gas prices but I'll bet his family made a nice profit off of it. So, gas went down almost 11 cents yesterday. Are you going to thank Obama for that? Thought so. You are a hypocrite and your party, the GOP is in self destruct mode. They say crazier shit all the time and with the way you slander President Obama's name by calling him Hussein Obama, I'll bet you are a birther and think Obama is a Muslim. Right? Anyway, enough with you. You simply can't fix stupid. I long for another Reagan but the current GOP would boot him as he isn't crazy enough for you people.

I find it amusing that a lib like you knows so much about Fox News. 15% real unemployment didn't come from Fox News. It came from the nonpartisan CBO (Congressional Budget Office) report released two weeks ago. I trust you're smart enough to look it up.

And who trashed the economy prior to Hussein "My Muslim Faith" Obama coasted in to office? Barack Hussein Obama inherited a liberal Democrat congress. You lefties love to ignore that. America couldn't stomach a democrat super majority. This is why you got the boot in 2010.

Go ahead and keep kidding yourself. A democrat potus failure is not a sure bet in 2012. Go Romney 2012!

Emtronics said...

Wow To blame a democratic congress for the policies of Bush and his 2 wars, one where WMDs were never found, is amazing. Of course one would think you are demented but I doubted that until you said; "Go Romney!" LMAO Maybe it's the magic underwear?

That soccer field you mentioned at Gitmo? Well it's in this weeks SI mag and it was built to replace one there at the request of the USMC. The old field had drainage problems making it un-usable. The reason the price was so high was because of the US embargo on Cuba meant all materials had to be shipped in. It's a non issue unless of course you are a ditto head and anything Rush says about spending makes you mad.

Emtronics said...

227,000 jobs created last month. Far better than even the experts thought.

and you would consider Romney??? LMAO

The published unemployment figure is NOT true. Those whose benefits have expired are not counted. Also the administration talks about those who have stopped looking for work. They have no idea who has stopped looking for work. There is no way to track these people - if they exist. The 15 percent figure is right, maybe higher.

It also does not include the leeches who never have nor ever will look for a job, instead sponging each month off the dozen baby momma's public aid checks, dropping their $5 into the gas tank in a $100 car with a $5000 speaker system in it. rocking their heads, admiring their 22's and the only time they lift a finger to do anything that will even raise their heart rate is to reach for their zipper. Yep, that's a stereotype, and if you want to make some noise, will be happy to park your butt onto a variety of neighborhood plots to watch the stererotypes live and breed in their own environments.
